This is a mentoring system set up to offset poor behavior at lunch times and on the yards.
Some children from 5th & 6th class spend their lunch time with the junior children. The older children are encouraged to teach the younger ones some games and social skills. The older children are given the responsibility to look after the younger children, to offset poor behavior and to encourage appropriate interaction. In general the older children love this responsibility and thrive on the challenge. The younger children look up to the mentors and learn a lot from them. The teachers on yard supervision are also benefiting from an extra set of eyes on the children.
