Green Schools is an international environmental education programme and environmental management system that promotes and acknowledges, whole school action for the environment.
We are in our tenth year of the Green Schools Programme. Since 2002, our green schools committee and our troop of litter wardens encourage and motivate the pupils, staff and local community to keep our school eco friendly and to raise awareness of local and global environmental issues. We have received four Green Flags to date for our efforts under the themes of Litter and Waste, Water, Energy and Transport. We are hopeful that we will receive our fifth in 2012 for the theme of ‘Global and European Citizenship’. Our school was one of the few schools in Munster chosen to pilot this theme.
