Drama

Drama plays a huge part in the lives of our children in Corpus Christi Primary School. Our School has a great and proud tradition of concerts, shows and drama competitions.

We are proud to say that Corpus Christi are two time ‘All Ireland Slógadh Champions’ (Slógadh is an all Irish drama competition), and five times ‘Slógadh Munster Champions’, winning a special award to perform for the President of Ireland. We have also won ‘Féile Dramaíochta na Scoile’ on two occasions and are winners of the ‘Primary Schools Drama Competition’ three times.

However, it’s not all about competition. We see the value of our children performing on stage - the fun, excitement and confidence-building is wonderful. Every Christmas each child performs in a Christmas Concert and drama classes are taught every week. As far back as 1988 and up to 2010, our children have performed in shows in the Belltable Arts Center, Mary Immaculate College, University Concert Hall and the Millennium Theatre, with fantastic productions of Sampson & Delilah, The Hood, Sunny Daze, Short Pants and Pinafores and Baba’s Alley.

Last June we celebrated 25 years of Corpus Christi Primary School with our production of Birth of a Nation in the ‘Millennium Theatre’ at Limerick Institute of Technology. A wonderful time was had by all. All our pupils (past and present) who were in our shows gained fun and confidence and great memories from the experience. We are delighted that our hall is now restored to its full glory. We look forward to working with your children on shows and upcoming productions in the future.
